Decisions, decisions

I haven't yet turned on the tv to find out if our efforts yesterday to fix our service problem worked. While shopping in Springville we tried to locate a DISH installer at the local Radio Shack without success, although the clerk there did give us a telephone number for the area's installer. Upon calling the number I discovered the service was based in Lockport, which is near where we were located last week. Sigh. And that they wouldn't come out without authorization from DISH TV since we weren't local customers. Fine. We'll work on the problem ourselves.

Back home, we tinkered with the satellite dish, cut off the ends of the cables and installed new connectors, put the dish back in place and we once again had service. This time Denny left the tv on all day so we wouldn't miss the evening news in case it wouldn't work again after turning off the tv. Turning on the tv this morning will be the test.

Having cleared up that problem (we hope), I decided to start routing our travels once again. Checking through our collection of eight (count 'em-8!) campground directories I discovered that many of the campgrounds in West Virginia are in out of the way areas and seem to lack in facilities, so we're giving that state short shrift by staying a week in Pipestem and then we're moving on to North Carolina. A hop, skip and a jump and we'll be in South Carolina the first week of November, hopefully still in time for some fall color and great golf in the mountains of the western part of the state.

The big decision is whether or not to head west after Christmas and we need to make a decision soon because the campgrounds out west fill up quickly for the months of January, February and March. I was leaning towards staying on the east coast to see the seaboard states we've yet to explore, but after hearing from two friends who are currently in Washington and who winter in the same parks we do, I think we'll turn the nose of the truck west after the holidays.

After all, those unexplored states to the east aren't going anywhere, right?

How I envy the decicions you are about to make. To travel east.. to travel west. How wonderful!
