We've moved on; we're now near Salisbury, NC. A Wilson, NC local told us that during the Civil War the Confederates testing possibly Union spies by asking them to pronounce the name of Salisbury to tell if they were from the north or the south. I'm going to have to confirm the pronunciation with a Salisbury local but it's a good story.
It's still pouring rain--which I guess you could say is good for the complexion. It's getting old though. We received our new DW modem in the mail today but it's too miserable outside to set up the system. I'm paying for a day's use of the campground's Tengo Wi-Fi Internet connection (in addition to continuing to pay a monthly fee for the DW which we haven't been able to use for three weeks) so we need to get outside tomorrow and put up the equipment to see if the modem was the problem. Everyone cross your fingers. At least if the modem isn't the problem I can pay for the Tengo service and stay online until we get more parts to try.
Tomorrow we'll talk whirligigs. Pictures, too.
