After our round of golf yesterday we stopped by the local Les Schwab Tire Center in Weiser. We have been noticing the Les Schwab francises since we first arrived in the Washington/Oregon area and figured they must be pretty good to have so many businesses. We have been hearing some brake squeal recently and thought we'd make an appointment to have ours checked and new brakes installed if necessary.
One of the employees had us pull into their lot and jacked up the right rear of the truck and proceeded to pull off the two right rear duallies to check the brakes. He told us we still had a good three-quarters of the pad left and didn't see any need for new brake pads, so he put both tires back on and wished us safe travels. We tried to pay him for the labor involved in pulling off the tires but he told us simply to consider using them the next time we passed through or to recommend them to others. So that's what I'm doing as he was friendly, professional, thorough and quick. If the employees at other francises are the same, it is a great business.

Wouldn't you need to have the front brakes checked also? Unless they are different the rear brakes are mainly only activated by the parking brake. The front brakes take most of the stopping when the brake pedal is pressed.
Thanks for the heads up, Greg. The reason we didn't have the front brakes checked was that they were replaced two years ago while the rear brakes haven't been checked since some recall work was done on them in 2001.
