A Home IS a House

A frequent question from people curious about our full time RVing lifestyle is "don't you miss your house?"  Our answer is always, "but we have a house--it's just on wheels!"  Today the US government confirmed that by sending us our home buyers tax credit for purchasing the Beast in December.  We had a couple of paperwork issues that had us wondering if Uncle S*m would allow it, but the funds showed up today so we're pretty pleased to say the least.

It didn't help our golf games today, but it was a nice start to the day.

How wonderful!
I saw your post on rvthereyet.cc, and I was wondering how you found information about rvs qualifying for the tax credit. I've tried to google it, but can't seem to come up with any info. I would LOVE it if the TH we bought in Jan. would qualify! ;) Thanks! dana

I would think extra funds would help your golf game exponentially. What? No one to bribe for a better score? heehee.

Congratulations. And a home is anywhere you make it - even if you don't get a tax credit for it.

Dana, the credit is not something you'll find online easily. We went with the premise that 1) our RV is a residence with kitchen, bedroom, bath, etc and 2)we would qualify as long term homeowners buying a new principal residence. See http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=204671,00.html

Right now it would mean you would have to file an amended return. Good luck with it.
